Work in Slovakia: Steps to Secure Your Employment

  • Check Eligibility :

   - Assess your qualifications against the job market demands in Slovakia. Fields experiencing labor shortages include IT, engineering, healthcare, and construction.

  •  Prepare Required Documents :

   -  Application Form : Complete the necessary forms for the work visa.

   -  Passport : A valid passport with at least six months' validity.

   -  Educational Certificates : Relevant academic and professional qualifications.

  •  Apply for a Work Permit :

   - Before applying for a visa, you need to obtain a work permit. This is generally arranged by the employer in Slovakia. The application process involves:

     - Submission of your documents to the Slovak Labor Office.

     - Employer's request for labor market testing to prove there are no suitable local candidates.

   - Processing Time: Approximately 30 days.

  • Apply for the Visa :

   - After receiving your work permit, apply for a long-term visa (D visa) at the Slovak embassy in India.

   - Required documents include:

     - Copy of the work permit.

     - Completed visa application form.

     - Health insurance coverage for the duration of stay.

     - Confirmation of accommodation.

   - Interview : Applicants may be required to attend an interview at the embassy.

  •  Arrival in Slovakia :

   - Once your visa is approved, book your travel to Slovakia. Upon arrival, you need to:

     - Register your residence within three days at the local Foreign Police office.

     - Apply for a Temporary Residence Card (TRC) for work purposes. This process may take up to 30 days.

   - Ensure that all required documents are prepared for your TRC application, including proof of accommodation, health insurance, and your employment contract.
